that was ridiculously efficient, and as long as you can get the base vehicle there, you could easily and (relatively) safely clear an entire area to build a cottage in just a few hours with nothing left but mulch and no need to haul away the trees.

New trees put off many times more oxygen than old trees...
It's really, really good for the environment to take down old ones and plant new ones. In the USA, paper companies are required to replant just as many trees as they harvest (actually, I think it's MORE than they harvest).
