I am getting confused, does not take much lately lolol

One of my lenses is a sigma 70-300DG which I love for my wildlife and then I was a lucky dog and picked up a sigma 18-200 DC really duper super cheap like $50.00... so in my price range.. it was a used lens.. just someone who decided to go Canon instead of Nikon and was selling all of his Nikon Gear.. so I could not pass it up and brought it.

Then I started paying attention to the lens and noticed it was different from my telephoto 70-300DG with the letters..
Now, google tells me that differences have to do with crop factors, full frame cameras and what not..
I am confused on the part of the crop factor thing and I am not really getting good information..maybe someone here can help make sense of what I was trying to read..
I am thinking this little lens will be ok for what I am going to be using it for and I will be very happy on trying it out..

I just didn't want this lens to ruin my D60 if I had to have a certain kind like the DG or the DC..and a lot was mentioned about some motors in the lenses too.. which totally went over my head.. but from my understanding the main differences is whether or not a camera was full frame and how it would work on that kind of camera

thoughts? Does this make sense to anyone? LOL

The DC lenses will only work on digital cameras with the smaller (cropped) APS-C sensor. The DG lenses will work on full-frame digital cameras and film cameras.

Yes, that was one of the first links I came across its why I was getting confused lolol

I know my D60 is not a full frame but it seems to work well on the camera so far,
all it tells me for the sensor is this CCD sensor which is telling me its a C correct? So the only lenses I should be using on this camera should be DC lenses and not the DG?

If you have the APS-C (not full frame), you can use either type of lens.

No. CCD is a type of sensor, not a size. Sigma's DG lenses are designed for both full frame and APS-C (smaller) sensor DSLRs. Sigma's DC lenses focus light on a smaller circle, which is large enough to cover a small sensor, but would suffer severe vignetting on a full frame camera. Some full frame cameras will accept these smaller lenses using a special mode that basically crops the image area to the smaller size at a lower resolution.

awesome thank you for clarifying this for me..

I was getting kinda nervous because I never really paid attention to the type of lenses before until I put the new one in my hands and noticed it was different... really did not want to ruin my camera over cheap lenses.
