As some of you know I'm going to Paris in November and I think that I'll either rent a wide angle lens or buy one of the "lesser expensive" ones. Because as I'm looking at the interior photo's that I want to take I know my 18-270mm lens won't cut it. I need something that can go lower. And in doing some of my research I'm not sure if the F-stop plays that big of a roll when you are shooting interior shots. Mind you I would like to be below a f/4 or lower.
So here are some of the shots that I'd like to take. WHAT LENS WOULD YOU PULL OUT OF YOUR BAG???
So here is my question...after looking at some of the pictures that I've picked out should I go for a 10-20mm lens or should I go for a 16-50mm lens? And finally wouldn't my 18-270mm cover that same range (16-50mm) or close...I'm confused
If you want to buy a cheap but great super wide angle lens go with the 14 Samyang - it's manual focus, but for a wide angle it's not so important. You can bring 14, 18-270 and 50 1.4 (you already have those ones) and you don't need anything else :)
ETA: I know 14 is not super super wide, but it can be the first step towards the full frame world ;)
There are tons of very good ultra wide DX lenses floating around in the used market for cheap. Nikon, Tamron, Tokina, and Sigma all have either 10-20, 11-16, or 12-24 lenses that are very good, and you would be happy with any of them. Craigslist is probably your best friend.
I have a Tokina 12-24 that I'd be willing to sell once we get back from Alaska next month, if you're interested.

A travel with only two lenses: 17-35 and 80-200. I have never felt I missed something. I recognize there's a gap there (got the 80-200 for a great price and those 10mm were worth the difference from the 70-200)

These two images posted below were both with the Tokina 12-24, but the 11-16 Tokina is I think even better, as it's 2.8 (my Friend used that one).
