I've just bought a new baby, (Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8), and got a Mack 3yr warranty for it.

Now, when registering, should I say either:
1. I use this lens professionally
2. I do not use this lens professionally.

What has everyone done in the past? what is better?

I would be using it for both, I suppose, so the logical thing for me to do is choose Pro, but are there any pro's/cons?

Does this choice change the terms of the warranty?

If you don't have to prove you are a professional or anything, I'd say professionally. Do read the terms of the warranty before you make the decision. With Canon, if you are registered as a professional (which either requires that you own a certain type/amount of equipment or a letter and some other documentation), your service will be expedited and you will receive a loaner lens while yours is being repared/replaced.

I've actually been looking at 3rd party companies that offer warranties for some of the lenses I am planning on buying in the future. How much did you pay for the 3yr warranty?

I got a Mack extended warranty.

It cost me USD$39.95 from Adorama (www.adorama.com)

On the warranty card:
The 35mm / pro lens registered below is guaranteed to operate according to manufacturer's specifications for a period of 3 additional years after expiration of manufacturer's warranty....

So I have a 4 years warranty now.
