I am trying to upload a picture to my local walgreens and I even tried Walmarts site to get a print out of one of my pictures..
The issue is it totally distorts the colors and looks totally different than what is shown in light room..
I am shade color blind, but there is a huge, huge difference in the looks of the upload to the site compared to what is shown in lightroom..
Does anyone else notice this as well? I want printed what I edited.. If I print it from my computer, it does exactly what is shown...
There's the problem... Walgreens and/or Walmart are going to assume the "standard" sRGB color space. When you export print files intended for printing services that you are not sure will pay attention to the color space, sRGB is what you want.
Put your best foot forward at the Mississippi Valley Fair. Have your excellent photograph printed on Kodak Professional Endura photographic paper. The quality of photo paper is often underestimated in terms of presentation. The photo paper used at Walgreens or Walmart is standard, common stuff and it will pale in comparison to Pro paper. Instead, use a professional photo paper with a lustre finish. Glossy is too reflective. Matte is too flat. Lustre is a better choice. Get this from a professional quality photo lab, like WHCC or Meridian Pro. What I mean is to let the professional lab print your image on their pro paper.
Richard offers excellent advice, although I admit I get most of my personal prints from Costco on Fuji's Crystal Archive paper (I also recommend the lustre finish) -- this paper is also high-quality and the printers are professionally calibrated regularly (they use profiles from Dry Creek Photo).

Awesome thank you so much for this advice... because This is the first time ever doing something like this..might as well have fun and at least try it.. Never thought about the paper or the kind of finish.. I will be willing to have it done if it looks good..
I have uploaded and sent my request to Meridian Pro to print out.. I so appreciate the tips on this, and I look forward to the entry for the fair now LOL! We will see what happens now.
