We were visiting a Madrid gallery and were surprised to find that at this particular one they were sprinkling some great photographers work among the great painters work. While enjoying the Brassi, Man Ray & Steichen that were on show I came across the work of José Ortiz Echagüe for the first time and was floored by the quality development of his images, especially the work done in the fishing villages
Considering in 1935 American Photography magazine considered him one of the top three photographers in the world, I am amazed he is not better known. |
