I was wondering if this on might have done better.
It has some hot spots , but people seem to believe that my entry for the challenge wasn't back lit. So I really don't know which one would have done better. Any comments are appreciated.
I like the one you entered much better. I think you can tell it is backlit by the way the hair is lit. You have captured a wonderful moment in that photo.
It was one of my favorites in the challenge for several reasons. It was candid, well shot and honestly depicts a precious moment that I hope is going to be in a frame, on your wall.
I really expected to see it end up higher than it did. I would have been honored and elated with a shot like that had it ended up in last place!
I think that they're both very good, but suspect that the emotion shown in the mum/child shot puts it ahead of the other in terms of drawing the viewer in.
Clearly, they're both backlit, but maybe the strong amibient light from the right confused some voters.
