I hope this is the right place to post this

I have a Fujifilm Finepix 20006Z or should I say HAD.
I learnt my photography on that camera, it's a really nice compact hand held camera. With it, I took really sharp, clear images.

I received it as a birthday present nearly three years ago. It cost around $1000. Before that I never owned a camera.
All the images I sent to people with that camera had great feedback on how sharp it was and it WAS a good camera.
"What are you doing to produce such beautiful clear images?" my brother in law and great photographer said. "Tell me your secret"

But alas a few weeks ago I dropped the camera and the batteries fell out and a few bits broke off so it wouldn't hold the batteries in. I took my final image with it squeezing the battery holder last week

I took the camera to see if it could be fixed to find that it will cost approx $250 or more!If they can get the piece to fix it.

I do have my Fujifilm S3000 which I do all my work with now
I think it cost around $590 not sure as I won it with an image I took with my 2600Z. (The Balloon Silhouette I also got my blue ribbon for on D P C)
I am sort of pleased with it but no matter how I try I can not produce the same quaility look from my images,even when I print out images from both you can spot my 2600Z
Other people say the images were exceptional with the 2600Z so its not just my opinion

So I am sad that I am no longer going to be able to use it I can get a new camera with the cost to repair it these days but I cannot afford the replacement at the moment

It did have disadvantages (smaller memory card, and took a while to take the second shot) and I guess the replacement camera is far better but I really really liked that camera!

So I will lay it to rest with the battery case part of it now in pieces as the shop really made a mess of it.

I feel really sad as it was almost like a part of me I learnt how to use the computer with that camera.I took it with me where ever I went. It made me reach out to have many contacts. Other friendly photographers helped and guided me. Most of these people I've never met and are only names without faces living in far different places around the world but kind caring people all with the same passion To create and show the beauty, of our amazing world. and all to often the sadness and inpending doom.
My camera helped me over the grief of my lost brother and sister and my dearest friend Tony and made me see hope in this otherwise very lonely world
So it may seem silly but I shall miss my camera and the fun it has given to me and will place it lovingly in a box and keep it as a keepsake. :( :cry:

I started, seriously, with the 2800Z Sally, and it had a similar reception ... what you were seeing was actuall Fuji being rather heavy-handed with their in-camera sharpening algorithms. The 3000 will be nothing like as strong, but learning your way around USM in PS, Elements or PSP will in the end give you even better results, I'm certain.

I still use my 2800 for snapshots at parties and the like - it's just really easy to use, focuses well, has a decent zoom (the 6x was unheard of in it's price bracket at the time). I even took a blue ribbon photo with it (my disqualified one).

Sad to hear your news, though. Why not hunt e-bay or somewhere for a second-hand one?

Just wanted to say some thing nice since I have the a kind of a bigger brother of your camera S602zoom, I have had it fixed once for $220.

Well here is my best shot at my first poem in english!

By looking at the pictures
relive the memories it gave

Thanks for the nice comments and the poem

I only have adobe and Arcsoft so I will keep trying to come to grips with my S3000
