I'm guessing most people can't use this excuse, but if my pictures are even more lame than usual for the new challenge, I can honestly blame Groundhog Day!
As a Punxsutawney, PA, native, I wanted to invite my fellow DPC'ers to check out the web sites that keep me VERY busy at this time of the year. Chances are you wouldn't think that this holiday is all that popular, but just ONE of these sites had 5 million unique visitors in just ONE day a couple years ago! These are the sites I have developed related to our unique holiday:
Groundhog.org - The official site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. This site gets linked every year by places like CNN, NBC, ABC & practically every other news organization.
Heh... the bobble heads have been very popular, but NOTHING like the new Beanie Babies. Man. Ty made a special edition "Punxsutawney Phil Beanie Baby" this year, and they only made something like 5,000 of them. They sold out in 45 minutes, and can now be found on eBay as high as $180 each (they sold at the Chamber of Commerce for $5/each).
People are absolutely NUTS when it comes to the Beanie Babies -- I probably spend an hour a day answering beanie-related questions!

Hi Alan, or should I say neighbor, I'm just down the mountain in Altoona, and you aren't kidding Groundhog Day sure is a BIG celebration around here. So big in fact that you can't even find a hotel room for this weekend anywhere. Could you do me a favor though since you are closer to Phil than I am, can you go out tell him if he sees his shadow this year we might turn him into soup the next day...LOL I am ready for a beautiful sunny spring day. Nice sites by the way =o)
where is the Bobble Head ?? i can see the picture, but when i click it, there's no Bobble Head ??!! only the other Phil items - waaahhh!

OneSweetSin -- So I take it you're not going to partake in the festivities then? What more fun could you have in the middle of the night on a freezing hillside?! :) I'll warn Phil about the soup thing...
When I taught elementary music, we did a musical at one school about Phil. It was precious. It was about Phil, and he was having an inferiority complex and didn't think his job was all that important. His parents and friends all encourage him to do his job, and he does and it is a happy ending. Simple, yes, but hey the kids were 7 years old!!! The real challenge was teaching them to say Punxsutawney. You try it without your front teeth!!!
