I was looking at Joanns photo from Bryce Canyon, Utah and it is great!
I remember watching a show on the travel channel a few weeks ago that covered two Canyons in Utah (National Parks) but Bryce Canyon was not one of them.
Can someone tell me what some of the other Canyons are in Utah?
I looked at the Utah website and did not see any that were familar.
My wife is on vacation in October and we were thinking of driving to Utah for a great photo shoot :)
Other National Parks (canyons) in Utah:
Zion, Arches, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands
All are beautiful - all are photo ops that you will not want to miss. The decision will likely be based on which part of Utah you will be in. Most are along the southern border but stretch all the way across - many miles of beautiful road!! I believe that Rt 12 is the one that goes across the southern part through many canyon land areas and, if I remember correctly the road is VERY beautiful.
I was just checking the Travel Channel and I Could not find the show in question. It had two of the Canyon names in the title. Maybe it was Bryce and Zion?
I will keep checking and let you know.
We were thinking of going from Texas - Grand Canyon - South Utah
We were originally planning on going to Austin, San Antonio and Fredericksburg, Texas but we can do that anytime :)
Canyonlands in the south eastern area of Utah is AWESOME!! The Grand Gulch is my favorite at this time! That is a getttin out of the car and hiking type area. tons of ruins and glyphs to see for sure.

Shot that whoe trop with a crappy point and shoot (film) That trip spurred me to buy a digital and dive into this hobby like a mad man.
There are so many things to check out down there and through there. I hope you have enough time. that is the worst part. Not enough time to capture it all! Have FUN!!!
Utah has lots of different canyon areas. Bryce is one, Tracy mentioned Grand Gulch. I like Zion a lot, which is where this shot was taken:
But don't forget Arches National Park either, where this one is from:
South of Bryce Canyon, and a bit lower in altitude, is the Burr Trail, near Lake Powell. It boasts red rocks like these:
And in eastern Utah, near Dinosaur National Park are even more canyon and butte areas, where this one was taken:
This all makes up the Grand Staircase, which itself has become a national monument. It starts at the Grand Canyon, then moves up to the Burr Trail/Lake Powell area, then gets higher in elevation to Zion and Arches, then goes even higher to Bryce, which is way up there in the mountains.
If you had only one place to go to explore in detail, then my advice would be to go to Zion Nat'l Park. It's very diverse and so lovely. But there are so many places to go! Wow!
I took my family to both Zion and Bryce national parks a couple of months ago. I wish we had allowed a lot more time; there is so much to see there.
