If you haven't already, click on the "EARTH" typography and explore the options. You can chart the winds at different heights, and you can go back in history or forward in projection, and some other fun stuff as well.
Looks like a mean one. Winter has yet to loosen its grip on the Northern Hemisphere! Here in NA's midsection, it has just been cold. Really cold. I am *so* ready for Spring, LOL.

I immediately recognized the style of the graphical display of wind speed. I went looking in the about page and found that indeed, this page, which I have been using for a year or so, was what inspired the graphical representation.
