I have Elements 7, CS5, and CC CS6. As of last night, all three would crash rather than open Color Efex Pro. I did shut down the computer and start it up again and that did not help. I have not uninstalled and reinstalled. I tried to search online and it appears this happens - but I could not find a definitive answer or even a good place to start in any of the forums.
My os is Windows 7 64 bit
If you have a recent Restore Point, go back and see if that fixes it. Google is automatically updating Nik Software now unless you opt out, and the updates don't always play nice with different configurations.
Why so many Ps programs, when you have the Cadillac of them all PsCC ... Not sure if Elements 7 will support Nik.. But I'm talking out my right ear...totally guessing
Thanks for the help so far - I'll look into these suggestions. My Nik has always worked with all three of these: Elements 7, CS5, CC CS6 (which I've only used recently but I almost never edit without at least checking a few things out in Nik CEP so I'm pretty sure it was working with that, too).

Restore points just reset the software and operating system to an earlier configuration; they don't touch data. If you restore to last week, say, you're not going to lose a weeks worth of photo edits, emails, spreadsheets, and poems :-)

Because I absolutely love Elements. I'm sure CS6 can do more - but some tools that I learned to use in Elements (like the healing brush tool which I use to clone) don't work as well for me in either CS5 or 6. I had CS5 before I got the CC package and asked my husband not to uninstall it because I don't want to have nothing if they jack the CC subscription price way up on me at the end of a year and I don't want to pay it.

Windows creates restore points fairly frequently. Click on your start button and in the search box type "system restore": it will give you a number of things to read about system restore and allow you to explore the options. You ought to be familiar with this procedure anyway, because someday you may need it if things go really wonky :-)
Weirder and weirder. Before messing with the restore points, I decided to check whether things were still wonky today. Opened a file in CS6 - no problem with CEP. Went to Elements. Same file. No problems. Then I put the file I was working on yesterday - happened to be my Earliest Memories entry. Tried to open CEP in Elements 7. Crash. But other files seem to be fine. Go figure.
