Each challenge should have a section for the DQ'd images to fall under so people won't have to ask what happened to an image and why. Maybe group the DQ'd photographs at the bottom of the list and detail a reason as to why the image was disqualified. This would prevent the rumors and questions that arise and also teach people by showing what caused an image to be disqualified.
Uh, well I would typically agree, but if the image is disqualified due to its content, wouldn't it be defeating the purpose of the dq by putting it back up for people to see?
The rationale for removing the DQd photos has been that we don't wish to either call further attention to them, nor to punish the photog(s) further. This has been a workable system, though it's understood that many of the DQd photos get posted in the forums anyhow. The obvious problem photos are those that are removed for violation of site ToS, those could not be re-posted. They are few and far between, however.
I'll direct SC attention to this thread to generate discussion.
This issue has been brought up numerous times (there are probably dozens of threads on this issue), and thus far has been rejected for the reasons Kirbic outlined.
This does not mean SC can't/won't discuss it again though.
why not just ask the photographer if they want the image just DQed removed, or left in. The removal of the comments left on the image is the biggest reason I would want any image of mine that was DQed -- this hasn't happened yet, and certainly wouldn't be intentional, but mistakes do happen.
Would moving it to a regular portfolio entry be that out of the question?
