Does any camera, to anyone's knowledge, have a feature where it will automatically set the exposure to be as bright as possible for any given scene without clipping any highlights? This would be an insanely handy feature to have; for me, way more so than things like those auto ISO functions that have surfaced in the past few generations. Would it be a difficult thing to implement? Doesn't seem like it would be; why do you think it hasn't been developed yet?
For the record, I understand you can monitor highlight clipping and all that jazz on the LCD, but that would still be a lot slower and more cumbersome than having the camera just dial in the settings instantaneously.
If such a feature exists already, tell me about it!
