I don't think your observations are specific to this site, nor perhaps even to the times. Success is SO hard to achieve that when someone achieves it, it spurs armies of copycats hoping to cash in on the style. Diversity suffers.
In the time I've been here, I've seen the favored "style" change from one thing to another, several times over. In addition to my above thought, this is also a learning site, so if there is an interesting new "style", it is only natural for us to try to emulate it in an attempt to learn new stuff.
I also do believe that there are a significant number of DPCers who have found their own style and stuck to their guns. Unfortunately, their style may rarely finish in the top 50% of a challenge, which is why they're mostly seen by those who already know (and enjoy) them. |
