I have always admired the tonal qualities and lighting (chiaroscuro) used by the famous Baroque painter, Rembrandt. Artists thru the ages seem to be greatly influenced by his work, whether they be painters, or photographers. In fact, I often see and hear the term "Rembrandt Lighting" in photography.
This comes to mind, because I was commenting to Konador yesterday that his Your Occupation Submission had great tonal qualities that reminded me of this effect. During the discussion, he showed me an outtake from that challenge.
We were amazed! I showed him a painting by Rembrandt for comparison.
Without even knowing it, Ben made this photograph. It is similar in many ways to this Rembrandt!
I thought this might spark some interest in a lighting, or even add to the "style" thread from this past week, discussion. Moreover, I just had to share! (Ben has given permission for posting this thread).
