Is this because a) the overall quality of entries was low, b) voters were grumpy and having a bad week, c) voters were bored with the challenge, or d) some combo of the above?
Just say it: rubber band. Nothin'. No response. Boring as all get out.
As far as I can tell it wasn't even recommended. I was convinced Langdon put it in there to get everyone to do the rubber-band-face self-portrait, so I obliged. Not only did not many people fall for it, but those that did were mocked for lacking creativity by Johanna. It was a painful experience all the way around.

pigeons would of been awesome as Milan centro was full of them, but NOOOO we got rubber band, and that's why I entered a shoehorn!!
I can't wait for the paperclip challenge. Or the staples challenge. We have done rubber bands, stamps and post it notes, but looking round my desk I can imagine so many other exciting challenges.
I missed entering "rubber band" due to work pressures and I was ticked because I had a shot all worked up in my mid for days.
However, I hear people call certain entries boring. I agree that you can certainly get jazzed up with one challenge compared to another. However when we see what we deem to be a "flat", "boring", simply not fun challenge does it not, in fact, become just the opposite?
What I mean is while we try so hard to make lemonade out of lemons aren't we in fact now making it challenging, thoughtful, provoking, fun and exciting? That's what happens to me anyways. The more I delve into the challenge the more the boring becomes everything but that.
That's what I love about DPC. It has taken me out of my comfort zone and challenges me to do new things. Just my two cents.

The result was a VERY boring 5.4ish score, basically the worst kind :-) From an artistic perspective, I think it was a valid choice, and I imagine my boring "Band of Brothers" might be more likely to end up on the walls at MoMA than, say, a glowering face wrapped in bands, though of course I could be wrong about that and anyway MoMA ain't necessarily the arbiter of anything and, ANYway, I like to ramble on occasionally, have you noticed?
