So -- there wasn't many bugs around because it's been quite cold here. I had a hard time finding bugs. Then all the sudden I realized, duh! I have fruit flies!! They were really tiny. So I put all three extension tubes on the 100mm macro lens. It was almost impossible to find the fly this way! It was amazing trying to find a tiny fruit fly with 3 extension tubes. 3/4 of the time I could figure out if the fly was even in the right area and whether I needed to move toward it or farther away! All while leaning over the sink because it was sitting on the kitchen faucet. I finally set the tripod up with the center post horizontal to get it in close enough.
The dof was so incredibly small, but the fly was even smaller. I had no idea what a fruit fly looked like up close. It was quite a surprise!

They were mine, too!! Set a trap -- a jar with some balsamic vinegar (or red wine vinegar) covered with plastic wrap. Put some holes in the top. They get in, don't get out. It takes about 2-3 days and they're gone!!!
