I'll embarrass myself and admit that for the twenty years I've been shooting I always put a mist on my lens with my breath, reached under my shirt and pulled a section of my t-shirt out upon where I shined that puppy until it glistened. I did this even when I was shooting expensive Hasselblad glass.
But I'm curious. Do some of you have more elaborate cleaning methods and if so, why?
i was talking to some guy who's apparently worked for zeiss... he says microfiber cloth + breath on glass. seems to work just fine. i have that lens cleaner fluid too for those unlazy moments..
note sometimes i m gullible and he coulda been full of it.

My t-shirt is my main cleaning tool too and only when I notice my photos have huge blobs on them. I should really get into the habit of cleaning the lens (and checking it is not in Manual Focus) ever time I shoot. Especially as there is a Minimal Editing challenge on the go at the moment.
Usually use a blower for loose stuff, followed by a quick swipe with a no-lint microfibre cloth. The streaky crap that builds up (esp after shooting in the city) gets lens tissue with lens cleaning fluid, then a dry tissue.
And hey peeps don't forget your camera's and lenses mounting rings and contact points! Gave the new kid's mounting ring its first swipe and surprised at the amount of black smearage left on the cloth.

Depending on the level of activity beforehand, I usually just use my underpants. A Lenspen is also good.

What type of activity are we talking about, that would render your underpants better suited for the delicate task at hand, and did the activity involve only the underpants or the underpants and the lens? Perhaps a tutorial video? Hehe.
