i've read the rules a few times...
am i right to assume that correcting for lens distortion is NOT allowed in minimal?
as far as I can tell, my D90 doesn't do in-camera distortion correction... meh!

No, you can't do it. My entry is suffering a little for this too, and I had to choose it as the least affected of my possibilities.
