I had an idea to take a mirror and break it, then take some shots and calling it "7 years of bad luck" but then I figured it could be me having those 7 years, not that I'm such a big believer, but 7 years is a lot of time.. :)
I assume we'll see a lot of reflections in this challenge.
1 : a polished or smooth surface (as of glass) that forms images by reflection (according to meriam webster dictionary).
So most reflecting surfaces would cut it, but you have to keep in mind voters will be looking for real standard mirros rather than surfaces..

I agree. The idea I had was to photograph a reflection, but not caused by an actual "mirror."
In what way ? :) I see him doing well on challenges.. ;-p

LOL! Now what I want to know is how many people thought about doing just such a shot but were chicken to break a mirror themselves. HA HA HA Can't you just see DPCers on the street asking other people, "um, excuse me... but would you break my mirror for me?"
Don't want to ruin anybody's ideas... but the rules state a "mirror" must be evident.. nothing about requiring a "reflection" in the photo i.e. you can show the back of a handheld mirror if you wanted and it would be within the rules.
While the rules do state that a mirror must be in the photo. S4nd3r99 already explained that by definition a mirror doesn't have to be a real "mirror", just a smooth reflecting surface.
A comment from the SC would really be appreciated here: Actual mirror or just any old reflection? I have some ideas that involve reflections (but no actual mirrors, the type you hang on the wall), so I'd really like to know ...

In writing this challenge description, I did consider saying "mirror or other reflective surface." In the end I decided to say "mirror" because I envisioned this as an object challenge, not unlike Pencil (Challenge 29). My intent in writing the challenge was an actual physical mirror.
That said, I am a proponent of loose interpretations of a challenge (within reason). I do not believe that everyone must interpret the challenge as I did. If I can see a photographer clearly had the challenge topic in mind when taking their photograph, I will generally score that entry as meeting the challenge. Just be aware that many voters might not be so understanding.

I decided to play Devil's advocate and offered to go the other direction.. show a mirror from the backside with no reflection.
pittsburghers please...go to the mattress factory (north side museum/gallery) for this challenge! it's a must-see anyway and there is some amazing mirror potential.
