Throughout the past several months we have received many and varied reports and tickets alluding to unusual voting in several challenges. We have investigated, and our investigation thus far has resulted in a lengthy suspension of at least one confirmed "reverse voter."
We will continue to investigate and take action against anyone who violates the rules and the spirit of the site by illegally and unethically voting down images to bolster their own placement in challenges.
The relevant entries have also been disqualified. Another user is facing a ban for similar activity with a ghost account. We take this sort of cheating very seriously and remind users to play with respect and fairness toward others. Intentionally manipulating votes to influence challenge results is a blatant violation of DPC rules and will be punished.
Now. Just a thought though. Forgiveness isn't unwarranted - what was it? 5 images/challenges? That's about 1 in every 5,000 votes for the user in question.
Dunno. Not my rules, but it would be my hope that the ban is temporary and that the user will return and be welcomed. (and behave!)

Seems like you figured out very quickly what challenges/users it was. It is a temporary (but significant) ban from voting and entering challenges and the images are not visible in the challenge results so that the users can return here without facing "vigilante justice" from the user base.
I've realized one of the challenges this person was in. Curious to who it is, though I know it won't be revealed.
Honestly, I don't care if they purposely voted down other entries to boost their own.
After all, this is just a virtual challenge site... Not like winning money is involved.
Hopefully that person (or people) will learn their lesson and continue to learn and grow as a photographer.
Just remember that cheating is no way to get ahead. :)

Not entirely true.
In fact, mostly the ones we know about started a thread to call out the SC and thereby self-identify.

Reverse voting is giving the best entries low votes and worst entries high votes, and the perpetrator's identity is [mostly] hidden to avoid lynch mobs. We want people to play nice and would rather they learn from mistakes and come back than be persecuted into leaving for good.
