I was taking some handheld motion blur snapshots at a local carnival and noticed that the kids on the rides were NOT blurred. In some cases they were even duplicated, but still sharp. Weird!
must be a bright flashing light on the ride? you might not even realize it's flashing... or the light is blocked and then revealed by a moving obstruction, but that would have to be really fast.
I would guess that the bright white lights at the center were strobes and you caught a couple flashes during the exposure time (they also appear duplicated instead of blurred).
It probably was a strobe effect, but not an obvious blinking light. Maybe there was an obstruction blocking a continuous light on the opposite side. I'll have to check it out if I go back.
Whatever it winds up being I love the pics! What fun! (To see, not do ... If I was on there you\'d have something rather gross included in your strobe effect. Getting green just thinking about it.)
