I don't know...I just erased this nice long post on why I am not impressed with either of the two videos linked to, but I figured why bother.
I would have liked to hear your thoughts, but I'm sure that you made a good decision, there are some 'round these parts that just can't handle even a modest level of dissent. Unless you'd like to become horribly unpopular, keeping your opinions to yourself here is wise. Unless, of course, your opinion happens to align with the majority.

I wasn't thoroughly impressed with it.
Granted, I couldn't make that image (at least not with my current skill set (or lack there of, I should say)). But, I wouldn't want to make it either.
While I do like some photo manipulations, these just didn't do it for me. But, that's just MY opinion.
I do appreciate the hard work, attention to detail, and imagination that goes into some of these works. Some of them are pretty fun to look at too.
This is the reason I posted the link. As disclaimed in the original post, the resulting image is not going to be to everyone's liking. I'm not sure I like it either, but I sure can appreciate the skill that went into creating it.

I do agree there was a lot of effort put in, and I admire that they were able to do this.

I agree with this, but I will go a step further. They didn't have to. My original post dealt mostly with the original link and after watching that one at least three times I concluded a lot of what you saw being done to the image was completely unnecessary. Watch it. If no other part, the processing and detail to the backs of the figures in the center in the beginning and then in the last third the placement of those panels or whatever they were. It completely negates all those fancy steps you saw being performed in high speed. There are lots of other 'detail work' examples if you look.

It's my sense that this happens because the image evolves as it is constructed. Also, just as one example, the "screens" are semi-transparent so they don't completely eclipse what's behind, like the special logo on the figure's heart... I admire a piece of art that's made as accurate as possible even where the work can't be seen.
