I have a canon 1d mark4 and a 580exII flash. The camera shoots 10fps, but the speedlight with fresh batteries will only do about 1 shot every 3 seconds. I have heard of battery grips, but can't seem to find one for this camera. Is there a way to get higher flash rates?
Increase your ISO or widen your aperture. That will allow more of the light from the flash to hit your sensor, reducing the amount of power needed by the flash, and increase the refresh time.
Assuming your just after faster flash => You can get battery packs for the flash so they don't run off the 4xAA's in the flash itself.... from the cheaper Canon ones that use half dozen AA's thru to more exotic things like quantum or black box that has far more grunt...... You can also get higher mah rechargables as they are faster but some are not nice to the flash.

Set the flash to manual and turn the flash power down. The lower the flash power, the more times it can flash without needing to recharge the capacitor.
If you need to use eTTL, use -FEC to force the flash to use a lower power than it wants to.
