for an 800 pixel jpeg from a full raw, conservative settings seem to make a small difference. For the image as a whole, there is enough difference for me to keep using this...Sending you a modified tiff neil you tell me what you think
i should note the image in this scenario was not an upclose shot of anything. I'll put up some examples later.
Thanks to Devinder for editing my photo with the new feature. Definitely an improvement.
However, the blur wasn't all gone. I thought I'd give my old copy of focus magic a try to see if it could do better...and it did just a little bit better, completely eliminating the "doubled edges" (though it produced more noise/artifacts along the inside of edges, clearly visible at 2x, and somewhat visible at 1x.

To be fair, it's possible if I owned CC I could mess with it longer and get even better results. But in this quickie test, Focus Magic did slightly better.
In cc, there are sliders you can manipulate to adjust the level of sharp vs level of artifacts and noise you get. I went with the Auto settings. In fact, i might have toned things down a bit for a more natural look - not sure -.- sorry
