I think it's more of an issue of understanding ratio. 4000x3000 is a ratio of 1.333 (4000/3000) whereas 468x60 gives a ratio of 7.8 (468/60)
In other words, when you reduce the 4000x3000 photo to fit into the banner, it'll look like a square with gaps at each side.
You have two choices: Crop whichever rectangular strip you'd like from the photo (closer in shape to the banner's shape) and reduce that in size. Or resize the original photo without constraining the ratio, but this will end up with the image looking 'flattened' or squeezed inside the banner. |
