This is a strange lens on the used market, as it doesn't hold value as well as many Canon lenses tend to, likely because it was a kit lens that ends up being sold more often than most lenses.
In any case, looking at the market on EBay, I'd say jump on the $225, since anything over $250 seems unlikely.
The 50D is likely going to jump in price over the next few weeks, as the ML guys just unlocked RAW video on the 50D - and the results even at ISO 12,800 are stunning, looks as good as the dedicated cinema systems that cost 20x as much.

It's a decent price. I bought one from Scalvert a few years back for $200, but he gave me an attractive deal on it because he felt guilty about the 20D I bought from him that went Ka-Blooey after a couple of months.
