Had a small play with this lens Via a contact at Sigma and I can assure you it is STUNNING! If it was FF I would of bought it there and then. The New Sigma A series lenses are really special, as a Leica user I can honestly compare them to the Leica lenses with the exception that Leica's are not plastic anywhere.
I own the Sigma 35mm f1.4 A for my Nikon and it is AMAZING. I think that Sigma are leading the way with new innovative designs, they seemed to of listened to what the Photographer wants and blended it with what is actually possible and are really starting to make some exceptional glass. Kudos to them for taking the reins.
When I first got into photography a few years ago, the quality control and consistency of Sigma lenses was suspect, with a lot of lens to lens veriability which has always scared me off of purchasing a Sigma lens. Has this changed in the last couple of years?

Most definitely. I have the 35mm f1.4 A and also the 12-24mm mkII and they are both stellar! I agree, in the early days it was hit n miss and I am a total lens snob, however these days, with their new line of lenses, I am proud to mount them on my D800, the build quality is excellent and the contrast and sharpness wide open equals the nikons and in the case of the 35mm f1.4A it is actually quite a lot better than the Nikon.

I agree! I had some hit n miss with the early 10-20mm. Different variations etc. I took a chance on the 30mm and its flawless. Now I have my eye on the 35 & 85mm.
My version of the 10-20 was for Nikon and was OK, the 12-24 mkII however is a very different beast, it is brilliant and it is the widest lens for FF DSLR cameras in existence as far as I know. I would suggest the extra few Bucks.

I wish they had corrected the lens better though - the optics are sweet compared to the mkI, but it's got some serious complex lens distortion going on, and that would bug me pretty badly in all honesty, as I use that lens where straight lines are critical.
