I am wondering if HDR falls under advance editing, meaning a challenge says advance editing, now if I take 5 shots and merge them to HDR and submit, is it allowed?

But make sure there is nothing that changes position in the image - like a person moving through the exposures. Then you run into problems. As far as I have been able to figure out from forums, you are darned if you do, darned if you don't. IOW if you choose one of the poses and it differs significantly from the others, that can be a problem. If you leave them all in - ghosted - that can be a problem. So I hope what you have is a landscape :)
