Oh, I'm sorry - I meant make it run Win 7 well. I'd need at least 8GB of RAM, probably more like 16GB, and this small size storage BS would have to go as well. I need a terabyte at a minimum, solid state.
It's not like the technology isn't there, it's just that no-one has built the luxury computer device yet. Apple has tried, but it doesn't really build an uncompromising system, they build for the masses, and that's not what I would desire - even the somewhat more niche Nexus 10 isn't what I want - but it's pretty ok. I like using it for relaxing computer time.
Well, since we edit photos how about Video and photo editing.
so power consumption and noise isn't an issue?

16GB RAM, 8 Cores of Bulldozer 3.2Ghz goodness, video card that sounds like a jet engine, 55" monitor, etc. :)
But, it's not really the "sickest" PC at all, I mean, I built it for something like $500, less the monitor, which I really only mention because it eats energy like nothing else. (and has amazing dynamic range... :) )
In the end, I think this thread is almost silly these days, as the level of computing has reached a place where the quality is so high, and the cost so low, that 'dream' PC's are now commonplace, and really, we've left the time behind (for now) when everyone really NEEDED more PC, and everything was always just a little (or a lot) processor/RAM starved.
I mean, my three year old work laptop will run Photoshop and plugins pretty well, along with plugging into my external monitor as a second monitor in HD, plus playing Pandora. And it's a real lame box compared to this desktop. What can you do with $2000 or more these days? Pretty much anything, but spend more than $1000 and you're being kinda silly, since you won't ever need that power.

After that, spend between 1k and 150k on control, input, and feedback devices, plus another 15-20k on a mind blowing stereo surround system, custom built of course, using high end components, custom enclosures, and a system configuration that is scientifically engineered for the sound profile of the room in which you are going to install this into.

Ok, then go for next to current gen everything, except processor, maybe video card - plenty of RAM, good monitor, good headphones, Razor keyboard, mouse, etc.
