LOL. I think it's funny that the reason "traditional" photogs are horrified is that you "needed darkroom skills to make your photos look great". Now you can just do it in your phone. The horror!

Interesting... just by putting a few recent events together, I can fathom a guess that this article, the appearance of an instagram photo in the New York Times together with the "acceptance" of these photos by Getty is a paid social media campaign by Facebook in order to market instagram as a useable source of stock material!
The camera on my iPhone is pretty damn good. It won't do everything my D800 will, but in the right hands, it's plenty good enough for a lot of editorial portraits. Like any camera and any editing tool, what really matters is the monkey standing behind it.
I went to the guy's website and had a poke around. He has a style that lends itself well to the iPhone/instagram thing. Some of the pictures were excellent, some weren't really my cup of tea. A little too artless, maybe.
