Just wanna say I am getting down scored (3.796 currently) and have 4 comments all of them questioning whether there are 13 of the same things in the image.
Thanks guys but if you cannot count that's not my fault. I mean how obvious must things always be. Take the trouble to look closely and count first before down scoring me and you will see exactly 13. This illustrates perfectly how many peoples minds work here...they want to instantly see what they are expecting to see...the obvious, and score accordingly. They don't want to have to take the trouble to have to analyze or look more closely at a image. They just want their eyes to be instantly satisfied without having to think too much and move on to the next image.

LOL no I am not but there was one image where I did because I saw half a "thing" and that made me count to see how many "things" there were in total :)

Comments:4 (all comments saying that there are no 13 of the same "things" but they are all wrong as there are definitely 13 of them. One just has to look a little better. But for that...the image is well composed and has lovely tones and for technical quality should definitely score nothing under a 5 but so far it looks like because people fail to see 13 "things" they are scoring it very low. It is in fact one of my nicer images imo and I was expecting it to score around 5.6 to 5.8 on average.

I actually thought there were a lot of very nice images entered.
Another odd thought:
The challenge description said "exactly thirteen of the main subject", which IMO can be interpreted loosely - no indication that one had to have identical objects though that works too, of course.
This Triskaidekaphobia team member dreamt of her team mates bopping her on the head 13x each for entering my 13 item shot. Morning after submission regrets ... LOL. But it's actually doing better (4.83 currently) than my portrait shot so maybe I won't have to become a triskaidekaphobe. Oh wait I already am ... more coffee needed.
I shot a picture, it has 13 things, I am not all that attached to said picture, it is doing ok. I am finding more inspiration, or at least more enjoyment working on new and old stuff with new editing techniques which are not allowed in challenges, I should work harder at the challenges.

You (we) should work at improving our photography and editing skills. To the extent this site helps with that, so be it. But it should be secondary.
