I've had both and I think the ears are a little short? Definitely a stockier breed - some sort of workhorse, maybe.

LOL any horse given the chance to grow a winter coat can, and will. Just don't blanket them up the wazoo like show people and others do. FWIW I would say Quarterhorse or QH/x like Katie suggested. But definitely not Arabian. Can be very difficult to tell a horse's breed from that angle.

Any idea how tall it was Oliver? A Shetland pony and Shire horse can have the same basic shape but a shire has close to three times the mass. The small hooves, upright fetlocks and the big knee and fine lower leg say it is probably a pony, and tough to see details with that winter coat. Where was the shot taken would give a big hint. If it is England, the Morgan or Quarter horse is a rare thing, and some of the breeds we don't see here in the US are more likely. If I was going to bet a nickle, I would bet Welsh Cob. The fine muzzle and slightly tuliped ears along with the racked shoulders hint at some sort of Welsh pony.
