So I'm reading on MoveOn.org (an organization that seems unable to move on...) about the devil that is Fox News. They are conservative biggots and they report many things with a slant from the right. They are a horrible "new media" company because of this.
Now if they feel this way about Fox news, how do they feel about CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, Washington Post, NY Post, LA Times... Those are all undisputibly left leaning (of which they have the right to do). Are these people seen as equaly bad? or is it only OK to have an opinion when your liberal?
I'm not being sarcastic, I'm truely asking. For those Liberals who hate fox news for being conservative and not fair and balanced in your opinion. Do you view the other medias the same way, even though you agree with them?
BTW: I beileve Fox NEws has 1/12 the viewership of the others medias combined, not exactly a fair fight...
You know what is interesting...I think my views are on the liberal side, but I watch FOX News almost religiously. Unless I'm watching Dennis Miller or Jonny Mac on CNBC.
In 2000, a CNN producer discloses that her husband is a lawyer for the Gore campaign. As a result CNN makes sure she has no contact with any election coverage stories. That same year, Carl Cameron discloses that his wife was campaigning with Bush's sister in Texas, as a result, Fox puts him in charge of campaign coverage.

Who's biased again?
Ya that info is in the movie "Outfoxed". I highly recomend watching it if you want to know how Fox plays its tricks.
Everyone has avoided the question completely here. Anyone want to actually answer the question? Do you all feel that CNN and the other news sites are unbiased politically, or do you acknowledge that they are leaning left?

Wow, can none of you answer my question?
Are you really trying to tell me that CNN or any of the other news medias I mentioned above are not bias as well?
Fox New is more conservative = it's the devil
CNN is more liberal = What?
You can't deni CNN or any of the others are not liberal, don't play stupid and give me this CNN is right wing or unbiased bull shit.
Now answer the question and quite answering questions like you John F-ing Kerry!

It may be that the other sites lean left. I know ive never seen a pro Bush ad on cnn.com but I do recall seeing a Kerry ad before.
But if they are leaning left, what Fox is doing might as well come straight from the Republican GOP heads.

Wow, that sounded like a liberal answer. "It could be true, I've never noticed." I'm not just talking about ads, here, and I don't think that Russell was, either. It is not speculation. It is a well-known fact that CNN, the LA Times, etc, are liberal news sources. Their news itself has a liberal slant. Yet the liberals don't condemn it. Huh.
I also think that so many news outlets are so FAR to the left that Fox news, which is only JUST to the right of the issues looks very conservative. Trust me, rumor has it I'm a conservative... I would love to heve the conservative equivelant of CNN, if would put Fox news in the middle...
According to the movie Out Foxed, there are conservative news stations and then there is Fox. Fox has direct links to the current administration, specifically, while the others are linked to a conservative agenda over all.
Russell, to answer your question, I view Air America to be left. However, I consider CNN, MSNBC, and other cable news channels to be quite balanced overall. You have to remember that just because a channel doesn't constantly spew hatred towards liberals, it doesn't make them biased to the left.
Yeah, no contest. Fox is, for better or worse, a propaganda machine.
I personally disagree about the concept of the "liberal media" as well - that so-called "liberal media" bends over backwards to avoid the label. Really, I think showing things in an objective light tends to favor a less conservative viewpoint. But there are quite a few folks who aren't going to like that assessment.
The funny thing in this is you think that CNN et al are left wing. They are certainly more to the left than Fox, but there is no real left wing in the US. I think if you believe that CNN/ CBS etc are left wing (not 'left leaning' whatever that means - just less right wing than your own views ?) then you've never actually seen any left wing news broadcasts. (I've never seen/heard 'AirAmerica' so it might actually be left wing) But yes, every media outlet is obviously biased and present their own particular bias. The majority of media, like the majority of the politics in the US is centrist or right leaning. I guess if your own views are far out on the right fringe of the world, then everything, even including Fox would appear centrist or even left wing. There is nothing wrong with that at all. In fact it is pretty much required and normal. I suspect people get irritated by Fox's blatently obvious pretense at being 'Fair and Balanced'.
I'd be happier if they were more honest about it. If they can't even be truthful about their slogan and company image, why would you think they'd be truthful in their news coverage ? 'Right-wing and Bigoted' would seem to be a more truthful slogan and certainly more in keeping with delivering the accurate news. It certainly describes their coverage more correctly. And there is nothing wrong with that - though I still don't get why they feel the need to lie about it ? Any ideas on that one ?
As for the performance of the Iraqi soccer players, George Bush said in his speech to the voters in Oregon, "The image of the Iraqi soccer players participating in the Olympics, isn"t it fantastic? They would not have been free without the US contribution".
[...]
Chief coach of the Iraqi soccer team Adnan Khamad said in a Sports Illustrated interview, "I have nothing against ordinary Americans. However, they support the policy of their government in Iraq, and this policy results in destroying everything we have. US soldiers are constantly killing the citizens of my country. How can we say about freedom if I see Americans killing somebody every time I going to the stadium".
One of the Iraqi soccer players, Akhmed Manadzhid (native of Al-Fallujah) said in an Al-Jaseera interview, "I don"t understand how George Bush will appear before God after he caused the deaths of thousands of Iraqi men and women. After the Olympics I will take weapons and go to defend my motherland. After all, if an enemy attacks the US, will defending the USA be called terrorism?"
This is an opinion of the "liberated Iraqis". However, their opinion will hardly appear in Bush"s campaign ads.

If you want to see media bias, you need look no further than the announcement from the U.S. Census bureau yesterday that more Americans than ever are classified as living below the poverty level. Do a Google-News search on " Americans "IN poverty" ", then do a search on " Americans "Below Poverty" " and " Americans "Below THE Poverty" ".
IN Poverty = 1,320 hits
BELOW Poverty = 7
BELOW THE Poverty = 444
So, IN = 1,320, BELOW = 451
Looks like nearly THREE TIMES as many media publications CHOSE to report INCORRECTLY that the Census Bureau said that they were living IN poverty, rather than the truth - which is that they were living BELOW the poverty level.
Worth noting is that the liberal media's purposes are being served - As one reporters headline reads "Poverty Stats Help Kerry vs. Bush" ( Bayou Buzz, ref here )
Damn that left leaning Fox News Network!!!!! Even they are saying that more Americans are living IN poverty.
Sorry, but if you are living below the poverty level, wouldn't that mean you are living in poverty? The line divides the population. If you are below it, you are in poverty, if you are above it, you are not.

Actually, no. The Census Bureau bases it's definition of who is / is not below the poverty level on a SURVEY of INCOME. So...
First of all, it is NOT based on IRS data of ACTUAL reported income, but on what the survey respondants SAY their income was.
Second, it is NOT based on WEALTH, but on INCOME. So a respondant may be a retired multi-millionaire with a huge bank account but no INCOME and be counted as living below the poverty level ( based on INCOME ).
So, you could be BELOW the poverty level but not be IN poverty.
