A friend and former colleague who is also a potter has work in a current show here. He asked me to go down and take photos - everything from shots showing the installation (he said about 20%) to shots of individual pieces to detail shots. I showed him a bunch of unedited or partially edited images; from them he selected his favorite 18 which I edited and just uploaded to a private gallery on my website. I'm not that happy with the perspective on a few of these, but apparently he liked them and that's what counts. Thought I'd share.

Very nice job overall -- I especially like the way you eliminated some (potential) shadows by posing the item on a black base. What software are you using to create your galleries?
I have a zenfolio website, GeneralE. And the lighting in the gallery was atrocious. In desperation, I took one of the turquoise pieces outside and set it up with 1) a weathered black door and 2) some brick and stucco on an exterior wall. This was the only place near the gallery that was in the shade and had some potential for providing a decent background. He liked those shots the best - would you believe the natural light helped? :) - and wants me to do some more with other pieces when it's warmer. It was very cold and I just couldn't stay out there long so I just did one piece, but I would like to take a number of pieces and look for some very diverse backgrounds that would show off the versatility of his work.
No piece for compensation, Skip - I already own several pieces and don't really want more LOL Instead, he's actually going to pay me :)

Digital Art , Dawn #1 (18) and the Daffodils, #16, as an example.
Both of those have textures I purchased applied to them. The texture I used with Dawn #1 is by FrenchKissCollections - it's one of her "Artiste" textures. The other is a texture by Nick Lagos. I don't think you can find his textures online, but if you are interested, I can pm you the contact information. Some of the other textured images have textures I have taken - the texture for Hesitation, in the same gallery, for example, was created from a close-up of a very large rock I have in my garden. If you like this kind of effect, I suggest you do a search on "textures photos tutorial" - you will get tons of ideas and they are lots of fun to play with. You can't use them in any rule set at DPChallenge except Expert, though.
