I am attempting to create my very first webpage. I am using an old program (HotMetalPro6) and I seem to be doing OK figuring out the links and what-not, but I have a problem loading. All my files transfer to the site O.K., but when I try to access my homepage through a browser I see a filetree list instead of my homepage. I can access the page if I select the index.html document, but I shouldn't have to. I've been fighting with the program so much that I lost my links and now their not working either! I think I saw another user or two that used Charter internet service and I was hoping someone could lend some advice. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? There is nothing on Charter's website about this and most of the forum discussions here were way beyond my simple problem. I can try to contact someone at Charter but something tells me this is a better place to start.

what's the link (never mind)? see if it does the same
not by accident accessing it through ftp?
try index.htm?
no other "index pages to conflict (homepage.html, etc.)?
Not a guru, so just a few things I though of real quick
ahhhhhh try making the Index.html to (lower cased) index.html
your garden link...is garden/htm and not garden.htm, but then again it has no link in the file. Same for the family.htm file. I see no files for them.
The ulthm.htm file in the top most directory doesn't link through the index page, but works when hitting the button (when putting in the .../dwolff/I(change that)ndex.html in the url box.)

The index page is loading correctly, but you've still got a lot of work to do. As others have pointed out, one error is the file "garden/htm" (should be garden.htm), and others as well. Just for consistency's sake, use either.html or .htm all the time, not a mix of both. If your page builder has some sort of link checker, it can flag all the problems for you automatically.
