My Samsung WB2000 has taken to making a high-pitched squeal or screech after being left turned on for more than a few minutes.
It's not super loud when holding it near my ear, but it does interfere very badly while making videos, to the point that if I want any environmental sound and/or commentary to be in the video, I have to get it done within a few minutes of first turning the POS on. My guess is that maybe it happens from heating up.
This sort of thing must happen in other, similar electronics.
Anybody ever hear of this? Any known fixes? Anybody want to buy a well cared-for Samsung WB2000?
I think I spent about $400 on it and a spare battery when I bought it, probably less than two years ago. >:-(
It's probably coil noise I think they normally reduce this by gluing it to the circuit board to reduce vibration. Maybe it broke free and is wiggling willy nilly. If you can open it up in a way where it still powers on, try pressing on any transformers or inductors to see if the noise goes away when you touch them. If it does you found the culprit and glue it in place.

Please remove the batteries and let it sit idle for 60 seconds and then re-insert the batteries and check if the issue perists.
Back up the data of your memory card and camera and then press Menu >> Reset, to change all the settings back to its factory defaults.

I'd still prefer to glue something than attempt to get something useful from your average tech support person :)

It will end up completely broken if I open it up, hehe. :-D
Haven't tried the average tech fix above yet, but I'll update here when I do.
HD Hero would suit you. You can mount it on your head for all these puking action shots.
ETA: On the screeching noise, is it coming from the auto-focus motor?
Good call on the HD Hero, I already have one. But I don't like it for normal photography or hand-held video. For that I want access to full manual settings and a bit of zoom.
The screech isn't coming from focus. I can set the camera on a tripod, taking video of a stationary object, and after a few minutes you can hear it squealing. Since that squeal is coming from inside the camera, the squeal in the audio portion of the video is really loud.
What worked? The full reset, or the bash it open and poke everything that still wiggles, then glue it all back?
Was there a squirrel in there that was getting into the flash capacitor?
Here's my guess: The flux flash capacitor might have had a chance to discharge fully when you reset. Perhaps the sound only started when it was fully charged?

If everyone else's cameras have a flash capacitor, mine has a flux capacitor. So maybe it was building up too many gigawatts, hmm.
