I'm enjoying my micro 4/3 system so much, I can't even tell you!!
And this has led me to the idea of taking a camera everywhere with me. I mean carrying a camera 24-7 no matter where I go.
That is my commitment to myself this year...
I don't want to think to myself one more time that "Man, I wish I had my camera!!" I no longer want to drive by something that catches my eye and not stop to take a picture. I don't want to miss one more opportunity. No, not one. I can think of so many times I wish I either had my camera OR I just didn't take the time to stop to take the picture... And I still have regrets.
And last night, I went to a concert and had my camera but after the show, I was excited to have my camera with me because some things caught my eye and I stopped and took pictures. What I saw in my head didn't seem to work when I opened up the files in LR4 BUT I don't care...
I simply enjoyed myself while taking a few pictures... I don't care if I ended up with some turds. I loved taking the pictures and that was enough.
Who wants to live life with no photographic regrets??? Join me this year and I am certain we will improve our photographic vision and feed our souls.
If you read what my tagline says, you might equate it with the fact that I take my camera with me everywhere......have been for a few years. Yeah, sometimes the shot isn't exactly how I would have done it had I had the chance to set it up, but *so* many times I get a shot simply because I have my camera along.....
This is one of my favorite examples:
I was on my way home in the truck from work, four wheel drive 'cause the snow was so bad, and I was held up at a railroad crossing. I was just mesmerized by this train that was hurtling out of the blizzard. Big freight trains make a bunch of noise, yet the snow dampened the sound so that it made just a low swooshing noise as it barreled along. Took two shots out the window of the truck, one a complete blur, and this one......
This is why my camera is always with me. Yeah......I'm in, have been for the last few years!
I like to call some of these random, spur-of-the-moment images "Accidental Shootings", LOL!!!

I always used to carry my D700 with the 50mm f/1.4 attached. Last week picked up the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and it's simply fantastic. Bought both the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 and Olympus 45mm f/1.8 at the same time. Right now I'm loving the 20mm for it's size, and I like having to get right up in peoples grill to shoot them. It's a little more intimate.
I'll join in as I'm already doing that now. I only bring my D700 occasionally during the week, and that's when I have something specific in mind to shoot, like today for example. Otherwise it's going to be the Olympus from now on.

I'm really tempted by the OMD. The only thing that's holding me back is the better sensor in the Canon EOS M, and wondering how their next camera will compare to the OMD.
One problem the E-PL1 already solved for me - if I saw a photo I wanted to take from the car, the camera was inevitably in the trunk as it wasn't safe to keep it on the seat. Now I keep the E-PL1 (in its tiny bag) strapped around my neck and shoulder. I still miss some shots because I can't stop, but at least one of my recent challenge entries has been a drive-by shot that I'd never have got with the 7D.

I read a review of the new canon mirrorless and I'm glad I didn't wait for it. I've not heard any real-life experiences yet, as it's not available but I am so happy with the OM-D. I do not regret buying it and I am a Canon snob.
This is exactly the feeling I get when I walk around with my Sony RX100 -- in my pocket.
I can have it with me all the time and it takes great pics on top of that! No other compact camera I've owned made me feel so free (sure, I could take pics with them, but they were usually blah!)

The Canon is available here though I've only seen it in a shop window so far. There is a big Canon show here for three days starting tomorrow, so I'm hoping to have a look at it then.
I wouldn't consider the EOS M because for my next mirrorless I want a viewfinder AND a touchscreen. The Canon only has the latter. That's why I'm wondering about their next camera rather than this one.

Canon EOS M seems real nice but what is missing is a viewfinder .
Using a screen only can have its problems in my opinion.

I absolutely agree about the viewfinder. But it seems the autofocus isn't that marvelous either.
Have a look at the video review I just linked in this thread.
I had a play with the eos m in the shop the other day it's light weight and practicality where somewhat hampered as we attached it to a £10000 400mm 2.8 L hehe
Not a big fan of everything being touch screen given how cold it is here in the winters, taking gloves off etc
I just got an Samsung nx10 apsc size sensor but almost as small as 4/3 and 14mp I keep it in my car with my 20d and efs 17-85
Got my first entry in with the nx10 not doing so well though 5.2 :(

I am so glad you are enjoying the OMD-5....I feel the same way. The size and weight are amazing, and I am very pleased with the photos I take! I may not take it everywhere I go, but I do take it along more often!

Sounds like a plan! I'm enjoying my Nikon 1, carrying it with me most of the time. Enjoying DPC too.
