All of the above: I see buttons for shirts, buttons for electronic devices, promotional buttons, campaign buttons, and for that matter "buttons" in web sites, though I'm not sure how you'd profitably (and legally) use those in the DPC context. Anybody have any other concepts of buttons to add? Clearly the challenge is underwhelming people, only 20 in so far...
Here in the U.S. the keywords of pins and buttons can be interchangeable depending on perception of what they should be called. A good example is googling "lapel pins" and then "lapel buttons" and you will see what I mean. Both come up with examples that are the same or different. Again it rests in perception
Decorative pins like these Disney Pins (as an example) don't fit the majority view because the shapes are not the stereotypical button/lapel shapes of round or rectangle or square..
A mushroom can be called a button, as can the chin or even a baby can be called a button.

All are good examples....I do hope the challenge gets more entries because there IS so much you could do with the broad brush of buttons. Come on, show us your buttons!

I can find a button; little short on aliens this week. Damn. But I'm having update button withdrawal so I'm in despite my lack of aliens. Just thinking my entry is pretty boring now .

Yeah, one of the problems of going out on the web to research possible subject matter is that it leaves me feeling flat, because of course when you are looking at the possibilities in a world of images. . .well, not every idea I come up with is a winner. In fact, none of my ideas have been winners at this point : )
What I will say, is that I will take this sites idea generation capacity over most when it comes to creative ideas on a theme. . .however, the most creative are often not the most rewarded.
Sometimes the creative juices just dont flow. Period. That's it. Then we have the choice of skipping it completely or doing it anyway.
The wonderful side effect is that there's always photography to be done.
My comfort food shot is doing well. I'm very disappointed that I couldnt c ome up with something more creative, but I still experimented with something differentt that I hadnt done with lighting and noticed and played up something I hadntt noticed before.
Even if you cant come up with something uber creative - get out and shoot. Who knows what you'll discover. Maybe absolutely nothing this time, but who knows....
I'm wondering. If the challenge name is "buttons" (plural) does it mean that if someone has only one button in the picture it is not following the challenge rules? Not saying that I submitted a picture with one button and not even saying that I submitted anything at all. Just a hypothetical question :)
If there was only one entry and it only had one button, that would be a problem. But since theres more than 1 entry, we have "buttons" so we're fine! :)
