I'm kind of limited as far as time but a friend is getting married and at the 2nd party (All the friends that couldn't make it to the banquet and some that want to continue drinking well into the next day). I wanted to set something up where I would have my camera on a nice sturdy tripod and a combination of lights or a single light so that people can just hit the remote trigger, wait 5 seconds and 'click' picture taken. With a Wifi SD card it'll stream to the ipad I'll have at the main table where the bride/groom will be sitting.
I'm just not 100 percent sure how to set things up. I have access to a large enough space, plugs for the 1 studio strobe and 2 hot lights. I'll also be bringing my canon ex430 ii. I'm gonna have to play with everything at home so that I can set things up in a way where people aren't going to have to touch the camera (Set everything up manually). I'm not sure what to do for a backdrop either.
If you do something like this, how do you set it up? How would you setup your lights to prevent any harsh shadows when you're not sure if it's going to be 1 person or 5 people in the shot? Going to do some practicing tonight.
I will be sitting very close to the booth. Even with a sturdy tripod and the trigger off camera, I think beer and wine will push people to want to 'touch' when there will be a sign that says "DON'T TOUCH". Advice?
I've not done it but know a few who have, for my eye I think a nice white seemless looks the best. Makes it less distracting and focus on the goofy things the subjects are doing. I know someone who also includes props for people to use but not sure if you want it to be that silly.
sempermarine and I built a portable one out of PVC pipe (4'x6'x7'). We used a white backdrop that we secured around the frame and a ring flash as the light source.
We tested it at a wedding on the 20th and it was a big hit. We found some flaws in it... mostly how the backdrop flowed, so we have made some adjustments to it that will tighten the backdrop. Here are the shots from the wedding: Photo Booth Shots
By the end of the wedding I was actually pulling the trigger on the shots. Alcohol and expensive camera gear do not mix, so I wanted to make sure our stuff would make it through the night.

I'd love s breakdown of how you put yours together. I do have access to pcv pipe. This would be my first DIY job I'm totally committed to doing.

Great stuff on there. I have now quite a few ideas as far as props and possible backgrounds.
Now, if I can only get it all to fit into a couple of bags that I can transport via train to the locations for setup. I'll have to play with lighting to get something just right.
