My process is entirely different than everyone else. I often get told I do things most others don't do. With that said, I'm very particular about the "original file", not for DPC reasons mind you, just because I am.
I transfer all files from the card to the drives using Beyond Compare. Its a good utility to verify that contents match via a direct binary comparison (slow) or md5 hash (faster). Then, I put a read only tag on the files.
Of course, that screws certain operations that write key words and other meta data to the files. I'm still trying to figure this out. I don't have LR4 yet (because I'm on Win XP) so I haven't worked that process out. |
