I'm having a really difficult time processing this image. I want the colors to pop and I want the image to be very warm and scream "fall" -- but without ruining skin tones. Please take your best shot at processing this image and post the result as well as the steps you took!

Seems like a simple tweak of the temperature on the RAW file would fix it. I tweaked the Hue and was going to undo the skin with the history brush but then noticed the original skin was blue-ish, so I left it with the hue adjustment on the overall pic.

I did almost the same. duplicate layer> Used topaz adjust 5 toned collection sepia II. then erased the layer overlaying the skin... but it had a blueish tint, so I stopped.

So what was your final temperature and hue?

did some levels, added some color, some more red, + added contrast

Here's some theory crafting it.

burn some highlights, add a top heavy vignete, ramp up temp slightly, then play around with the color channels to isolate certain pops and then maybe mask out some skintones at varying opacities.

Opened JPG file in Adobe Camera Raw:

Exp = -0.50
Shadow = +18
Highlight = -100
Temp = +23
Clarity = +33

Then in CS6 with Nik Viveza I gave a smidge more structure and warmth to it.

Sorry - I meant Color Adjustment:

Midtones: +50, 0, -25
Highlights: +20, 0, 0
Shadows: +20, 0, -20

(approximate - I had to redo it to see what I did)

Auto Tone
Topaz Adjust 5: Vibrant Collection: Autumn
Topaz Detail 2: Edge Softener
Merge Layers

Gave it a shot...hard to pull the oranges out well and I think it may be a little too green...

I know not everyone is a fan of actions, but I am. On this, I used the Warm and Cozy action on the image, and then brushed Mr. Fix-it on the people. I could run Warm and Cozy again, but I didn't want it to look too over the top. (Those actions are from Yellow Sky Actions.)

Went with a warmer tone.
6 minutes in Lightroom with a quick edit. A little green in skin tones.
Mostly evening out the exposure from top to bottom.

I went with something that highlighted the relationship, but still showed the Fall colors.

It's really a beautiful shot. Not many edits could ruin it. LOL!
