my local camera shop just got this in they want £700 for it
does anyone have it, how good is it? i dont like doubling up on focal length having the 70-200 2.8 why would i use this and not the 70-200. yeah its faster smaller and seems sharper
looking at pics on flikr with 5d mk2 its ace
they also have a 24-70 L or wait for a 24-105 to replace my ageing 28-70
Oh, it's good. Really good. Question is, will you have enough use for f/2 over the f/2.8 offered by your 70-200? I do use mine fairly often in situations where I think the speed and focal length will give me something special, and where the size and obtrusiveness of the 70-200 is a disadvantage.
Given the reports on the 24-70 II I think at this point I'd scrimp and save for that rather than buy the original. Not that the original isn't good, it is, but the II seems to be something very special.
tried both in direct comparisons with my 70-200 2.8 and my 28-70 and looking on the screen of 5d mk11 at max zoom there wasnt enough difference to warrant the price, ive got the non l 85 1.8 which takes great pics for portraits
ill get the 24-105 instead i think
the 2.0 is slightly quicker and a lot smaller but im a 6 foot 20 stone (300lbs) rugby playing builder weight isnt really a problem
For me that 135 is just so sweet.... Love how it really isolates the subject so much more than the 70-200, with the monitor OOF in the 135 shot, and the boxes in front of it in focus (almost) in the 70-200 shot.
For a lover of bokeh, that lens is really just something to lust after.
