The results of the 'Free Study 2012-08' challenge have been recalculated, due to the disqualification of the former 5th place image for being unable to provide a valid unaltered original. Congrats to our new honorable mention!
I just got my validation approval email for 4th place. I hate those things :) No disrespect to the ribboners but pity it wasn't one of them that got DQ'd :) J/K!
So are you required to submit originals within 48 hours in a case like this... I mean, is there a little flexibility with the time frame because the results were already calculated? It's a surprise to have an entry disqualified so someone may not be able to submit within the 48 hour time frame if their image moved up. Just wondering.

Two clarifications here: firstly, if the user contacts us within that 48 hours saying that they need extra time because of particular circumstances, we will usually grant extensions on a case-by-case basis. Secondly, this particular DQ wasn't for the time requirement, but instead was for the original not being valid, as the user in question did not retain an unaltered copy.

But... I'm sorry for the DQ. I hate every DQ, but realize that they are necessary.
Boomer911 was able to find and submit his original within the time limits, so we've reconsidered his image, and validated it. Unfortunately, the recalculation to put it back can only be done by Langdon, so that part may not happen for some time.
We're back to where we started, so congratulations to all for earned ribbons and placements!
