I can't speak for the capability of DarkTable, but I can for LightRoom. I will say that Lr is competitive with the best in class when it comes to RAW conversion capability, and it is also a tremendous workflow tool *if* you take advantage of its capabilities. Because the user interface is so different, it takes some getting used to, and I always recommend getting a book *prior* to setting up Lr. There are choices you make at set-up that are important to get right, and the "right" answers for me aren't necessarily the right ones for you.
