Just to add some levity, I took both sides of the Editing debate and took them to extremes. Here are 2 Top Ten lists with the results!
Top ten Comments a Photography Purist might enter:
10) That looks like it was cropped in Photoshop. What’s the matter, too lazy to take a few steps toward the Tiger?
9) Good DoF, Nice composition, absolutely great color… wait… Is that Dodged!?!?! Heresy!!!!
8) In MY day we took pride in our shallow DOF. What’s wrong with YOU? Did the WHOLE elephant need to be in focus?
7) If I see one more picture with Gaussian blur…..
6) You know, whenever you use selective desaturization, God kills a puppy…
5) You Burned this photo, now Burn in the hell of low scores!
4) No rose is that RED! You have defiled this photo with hue editing!
3) You cheated! When they disqualify you for resizing that image, I’ll be the first to post announcing it!
2) Yuck. You obviously converted to Black and white. Your camera is a Color camera. Do some work and dig up an old Black and White digital camera and use THAT next time!
And the #1 Comment a Photography Purist might enter :
…That’s not a Photo, You obviously downloaded it out of the Camera! No Ribbons for you!
Top 10 Excuses for accidentally entering Digital Art into a challenge:
10) Hey! The Unicorn was there when I took it!
9) Who says my girlfriend doesn’t have a 72 Double-F bust?
8) Um, Yeah, there was a zebra in my parking lot last week.
7) Gimme a break, I thought ‘Burning’ meant inserting a Flames layer!
6) Are you SURE there wasn’t a lavastorm in Hawaii on Friday?
5) This is how I see the world. Semi-visible demons and all. It’s not my fault they don’t show up on camera, so I have to add them in!
4) Yeah, that’s my uncle Morty, he had his head surgically removed and placed on a bodybuilder’s body.
3) For the last time, that cartoon mouse sneaks into my studio at least 4 times a week. I had to hire that cartoon cat to catch him.
2) That Leprechaun just leaped into the scene, and he was too close to the center, the rule of thirds says I COULDN’T crop him out!
