Hi i have a modest camera which dosnt have many manual settings ,i need something better .....does anyone know what the "fuji finepix s602 zoom" is like as i have an oportunity to purchase it?
I have had a 602Z since september 2002, and have had many happy months with it. It gives quite a bit of flexibility:
Full auto, program, apeture priority, shutter priority and full manual
Great movie mode
built in or ext flash
6x zoom (35-210 mm equiv)
3.1 Mp or 6.2 using Fuji's super CCD technology
It has good overall contols, and is a fairly versatile camera. You can add on filters using their extension tube as well as wide or tele converters.
The battery life is good, as it use 4xAA batteries and you should get the NMih rechargeables. Get a couple of sets and you'll never run out.
Overall, I have been happy with my results and the overall functioning of the camera. I would definitely recommend it. It will probably be replaced by a new model in the spring, as that is what Fuji has done for the last three years (4900, 6900, s602Z). This should allow you to get a good deal on one now.

I bought mine in November to replace the Fuji FinePix F601 that I broke in October. I'm really enjoying it, especially since I received a tripod for Christmas, resulting in sharper images. You can check out my profile or the link in my signature below.
I love my 602! I've gone from point and shoot, to almost all manual within 5 months! If you have the money I'd spend the extra for the S602Z Pro. It has TTL with the flash, a remote shutter release, and PC cable.
I haven't won a ribbon yet with it, but my day is coming :-)

Try the camera out. Feel it in your hands, work and print with a few samples. Read the dpreview Fuji forum. Look for other reviews at dcresource.com, imaging-resource.com and steves-digicams.com
I am not going to repeat what I like about this camera, my fingers hurt from all that typing.
