Penny told me about the thread. We were shooting together. Hers are better.
In fact I was using her old MkII with an ancient 70-210 f/4 zoom (non-L)
These are from 2nd avenue as we walked down the center line of 42nd St disrupting traffic. Quite a scene.
Very nice! There's a place in Concord, California where I've seen the rising full Moon do the same thing, but not when I could stop with my camera ... :-(
This image was taken at the last NYC GTG a couple of summers ago. It was in early June but the sun was pretty close to the horizon here (not as nice looking as the images posted below) just not exactly lined up with the grid.
