Fort Worth is having a photo contest to promote the city and I want to enter some of the categories. I can use photos that I've already taken and enter one photo per category. Anyone care to offer me some input on what to enter? Here are my potentials in the categories. (I can't choose from everything since not all of my pics are taken within Fort Worth) there are definitely some categories where I have much more to choose from.
Concerts, Festivals and other public events:
Where to go after work, or for an evening on the town:
Recreation and Exercise (You KNOW this is going to be a bike shot):
Arts & Culture
Dining:
There were two categories that I didn't feel I had anything suitable for:
Residences in urban & mixed use areas
Grocery shopping
I'd go for the festival shot as it's bright and happy, the panaramic after work, the reflective building/water for the arts, and your call on the bike, but probably the evening street shot or the B&W motion image that's closer in on the 2 bikers (2nd from the end of the row)
Just got back from the event wrap party. I cleaned up. 4 of my entries were among the 24 that were in the running for prizes and two of them won.
This one won runner up in the "active living" category. Should look familiar to y'all.
And this shot won the overall grand prize. (I almost entered it in a freestudy earlier in the year, but eventually felt it was to heavy handed on the tonemapping.)
These were also displayed as high placing in their categories, but didn't win anything.
One question I was asked was how I got this good. My first answer is always that getting beat up on DPC every week is the biggest thing that has improved my photography. I now need to go buy a crowbar to get my head in the doorway. The swelling should go down in a few days, however.
Grand prize was a gift basket with some munchies, some fancy coffee & cheap mug, a cheap flashdrive, a handful of gift certificates for restaurants, & a gift certificate for cooking classes (which I may let my daughter use)
Runner up was another mug and more gift certificates for dinner and cooking classes.
I'm way behind on this one!! Missed it completely. Which is probably good, because I thought this was wonderful and that you should enter it instead of the grand prize winner.
Oh, I'm late to this party. I just left a couple of comments on your photos. Didn't realize it's over already. Congratulations on the Grand Prize. That's awesome.
